Mold growing kits with petri dish and gel-based food source is used to collect the molds.

Initially, the gel with mold growing on them is used as the dielectric material between two parallel plates to make a capacitor and an oscilloscope is used to make the measurement. However, due to the unavailable of the metal proxy, we decided to try the other approach of measuring the resistance of the mold. :(



A nickel-based metal conducting spray is used to increase the conductance of the substance. A Ni-based spray is used in the preliminary experiments and the resistance of he mold sample is greatly lowered (around several hundreds ohms). In order to make consistence spray on the mold samples and test the consistency on the results.
Image processing is performed on the same samples used in resistance quantifying process and a Matlab GUI is created to help visualize the process. A specific process of acquiring the original image is also created and followed every time to guarantee the consistancy of the results

Original data is collected by Electrical Quantifying and Image Processing Sub-group in Excel and sent to Data Analysis Group
Different statistical analysis are performed by the Data Analysis Group to see if the results are valid and significant.
